MAY EVENT

Short Notice

Saturday, May 16th, 10 am to 5 pm help organize for the main event on Monday, May 18th

Sunday, May 17th , 1 - 4 pm  help organize for the main event on Monday, May 18th.

Monday, May 18th 5:00 - 8:30 PM will be our annual event with the Northwestern Mutual Friends assisting.

Items needed:
Tuna/Chicken in foil pouch, microwavable meals/soups/pasta/rice, seasonings, Kar's Sweet 'N Salty Trail Mix, Jack Link Beef Jerky Sticks, blister pack gum like Orbit/Eclipse/Dentyne, energy bars.
Been out to eat recently/going soon?  Could you ask for a few extra packets of condiments?  Especially soy sauce, barbeque & Italian dressing. Single serving packets are really handy-norefrigeration needed.

I also have a request from a homesick Badger (female) deployed to Afghanistan for anything that smells, looks or feels like WI.

I'm completely out of handwritten notes/colorful drawings (fill all that white space) from kids.  The troops really like those- makes them smile.

Care Packages for the Mind

(Items highlighted in yellow are what is currently needed)

The Friends of the Franklin Public Library are cooperating with Books for Soldiers to boost the morale of Wisconsin service members and other US troops serving around the world.  You can help by donating care package items.  Reading material is the foundation of each package which could also include personal care, food and entertainment items.  Any gently used books, DVDs and Playstation2/X- Box360 Games are fine, along with magazines that are not more than three months old.   Personal care and food items need to be of the individual/small travel size.  Larger sizes may seem like a better value but can become burdensome to soldiers who move frequently and have very limited storage space.  Most soldiers aren’t picky and are grateful for anything they receive but when pressed to respond to “What can we send you?” these are items frequently requested.   A collection barrel is located the Franklin Public Library lobby at 9151 W. Loomis Rd., Franklin   Cash donations to pay for shipping expenses are very appreciated.  Checks can be made payable to Books for Soldiers-Franklin.   For more information visit www.mcfls.org/franklin
