Lucy Hill is an ambitious, up and coming executive living in Miami. She loves her shoes, she loves her cars and she loves climbing the corporate ladder. When she is offered a temporary assignment - in the middle of nowhere - to restructure a manufacturing plan, she jumps at the opportunity, knowing that a big promotion is close at hand. What begins as a straight forward job assignment becomes a life changing experience as Lucy discovers greater meaning in her life and most unexpectiedly, the man of her dreams. Wednesday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. - Frost/Nixon
For three years after being forced from office, Richard Nixon remained silent. But in summer 1977, the steely, cunning former commander-in-chief agreed to sit for one all-inclusive interview to confront questions of his time in office and the Watergate scandal that ended his presidency. Nixon surprised everyone in selecting David Frost as his televised confessor, intending to easily outfox the breezy British showman and secure a place in the hearts and minds of Americans. Likewise, Frost's team harbored doubts about their boss' ability to hold his own. Over the course of their encounter, each man would reveal his own insecurities, ego and dignity. Starring: Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Rebecca Hall, Oliver Platt, and Sam Rockwell.
This film is 122 minutes long and rated R for some language.
Wednesday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m. - The Reader
The Reader opens in post-WWII Germany, when teenager Michael Berg becomes ill and is helped home by Hanna, a stranger twice his age. Michael recovers and seeks out Hanna to thank her. The two are quickly drawn into a passionate but secretive affair. Despite their intense bond, Hanna mysteriously disappears one day and Michael is left confused and heartbroken. Eight years later, while Michael is a law student observing the Nazi war crime trials, he is stunned to find Hanna back in his life -- this time as a defendant in the courtroom. As Hanna's past is revealed, Michael uncovers a deep secret that will impact both of their lives. Starring: Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, David Cross, and Lena Olin.
This film is 124 minutes long and rated R for some scenes of sexuality and nudity.
Wednesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Daisy Fuller Williams is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital the day that Hurricane Katrina hits. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud from the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life. The unusual aspect of his life is that he ages backwards, being born an old man. He is diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival. He does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by Thomas Button, his biological father, after Benjamin's biological mother dies in childbirth, Benjamin is raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors' home. Starring: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Taraji P. Henson.
This film is 166 minutes long and rated PG-13 for brief war violence, sexual content, language and smoking.
