Library Council of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
The Library Council of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. is a not-for-profit professional association comprised of public, academic, school and special libraries and archives in southeastern Wisconsin. Its purpose is to foster cooperation and resource-sharing among all types of libraries in order to improve access to information by all residents within the greater metropolitan Milwaukee area. Members enjoy newsletters, publications, special events, and continuing education programs, in addition to opportunities for networking, special purchasing program discounts and InfoPass, a members-only resource sharing program.
Membership categories
Regular/Institution membership
Any library or information center located in southeastern Wisconsin may become a regular member of Library Council. Members are not obligated to participate in any or all individual programs offered by Library Council. Benefits apply to all library staff of the institution. Membership includes:
Eligibility for membership on the Executive Board and to hold office on the Executive Board;
Voting rights for Executive Board members and bylaws amendments;
Participation in Library Council continuing education programs at member rates;
Participation in Library Council social functions and meetings at member rates;
Subscription to Library Council quarterly Newsletter and Library Council eNews;
Other Library Council publications at member rates;
Eligibility for membership on Library Council committees.
Personal membership
Open to any individual interested in the goals and mission of Library Council and not eligible for regular membership. Membership benefits apply to the individual only. Membership includes:
Participation in Library Council continuing education programs at member rates;
Participation in Library Council social functions and meetings at member rates;
Subscription to Library Council quarterly Newsletter and Library Council eNews;
Other Library Council publications at member rates;
Eligibility for membership on Library Council committees.
Associate membership
Associate members are organizations whose purpose supports that of Library Council, such as vendors, suppliers, booksellers, etc., that are not eligible for regular or personal membership. Membership includes:
Participation in Library Council continuing education programs at member rates;
Participation in Library Council social functions and meetings at member rates;
Eligibility of a staff member or representative to serve on Library Council committees;
Subscription to Library Council Newsletter and Library Council eNews;
Special advertising rates for Library Council Newsletter.
Affiliate membership
Affiliate memberships are held by federated library systems. Dues are calculated based on the total annual salaries budget, or may consist of in-kind services to Library Council comparable to the appropriate dues category.
