Computer and Internet Rules
General
- Available to patrons on a first come first served basis and sign in with a valid library card.
- Users with expired cards or with fines in excess of $5.00 will not have access until cards are updated and fines are less than $5.00
- Limited to 60 minutes per session, 120 minutes per day. Users must wait 60 minutes after ending a session before another session can be started.
Software
- Only that software which is pre-installed by library staff is available
- No programs from home or from the Internet can be installed
- No downloading/uploading of programs
- User files saved to hard drive may not be available the next time
- Blank discs may be purchased for $1.00 each
Responsibility
- The Oak Creek Public Library does not monitor and has no control over the accuracy or content of information accessed over the Internet.
- Parents or legal guardians of minor children take full responsibility for the use of the Internet by their children.
- Users access library computer hardware, software and documentation at their own risk. Oak Creek Public Library is not responsible for equipment malfunction, loss of data, any damage to users' discs, data, etc. or electronic transactions of any type that are related to the public use of library computers.
Not Available
- Display of text or graphics that may be construed as obscene or extremely violent is prohibited
Staff Will
- Turn on the computer, replace paper in printers, clear paper jams and replace ink cartridges
- Provide a selection of links to help identify specific starting points for searches
Staff Cannot
- Provide instruction in the use of the computer or programs or the Internet
Users Will
- Be expected to be familiar with the use of the computer
- Be held responsible for negligent use resulting in damage to the hardware or software
- Anyone knowingly altering, manipulating or damaging files or settings on the computer or printer will be held responsible for the resulting damage
- Use the library computers for legal purposes only. Illegal use of computers may be subject to prosecution by local, state or federal authorities.
- Not violate copyright laws
- Forfeit their computer privileges by failure to follow rules
