Loan Rules and Regulations
Loan Periods
Most books and other materials circulate for three weeks. Popular titles, periodicals and video tapes circulate for seven days. Vacation loans of six weeks are available for most three week items.
Renewals
Most three week items can be renewed once for another three weeks. Seven day or six week items cannot be renewed.
Overdue Fines
There is a charge of 10 cents per day ($5.00 maximum) on all adult and children's materials except the following:
- Children's periodicals, 10 cents per day ($3.50 maximum)
- Adult periodicals, 10 cents per day ($4.00 maximum)
- Pamphlet file items, 10 cents per day ($1.00 maximum)
- Interlibrary loan materials, 50 cents per day
There is a three day grace period for returning most items.
Library Cards
Library cards are free to Oak Creek residents, as well as any resident of Milwaukee County.
For those living outside of Milwaukee County, library cards are available for $85 per year. A fee card purchased from Oak Creek can be used only at our library and only materials which circulate from the Oak Creek Public Library may be checked out or reserved.
To obtain a library card you must show identification with your name and current address.
Children under 18 must have their parent or legal guardian sign the library card application.
