Teen Advisory Board FAQ

What is the Teen Advisory Board?
TAB is a volunteer group of teens who work with the Young Adult Librarian to provide a teen perspective on the services and materials the library offers.

What does TAB do?
The possibilities are endless! What TAB does is partly determined by the members, but here are some ideas:

v
Help choose books, CDs and movies for the library collection
v      Plan, organize and attend teen programs
v
Volunteer at library events
v
Help with programs for little kids
v
Create and publish booklists, reviews and other materials
v
Write articles for the newsletter or website

Why should I join TAB? What’s in it for me?
First of all, it’s a lot of fun and there’s always food involved! It’s also a chance to give your opinion and thoughts on what the library offers for teens. Your ideas will make a difference!  And, if you’re looking for some volunteer experience, this is the perfect solution. Think of how great it will look on all those college applications!

Who can join TAB?
Anyone in grades 7-12 at a Shorewood school, who is able to regularly attend TAB meetings and library events, is welcome to join.  Members must be willing to follow library policies and guidelines and to behave in a manner appropriate for a representative of TAB and the Shorewood Public Library.

How do I join?
It’s easy! Fill out the application form, have a parent sign it, and return it to Tiffany Wait, the Young Adult Librarian.
