Due to a power outage, South Milwaukee Library will be closed early, Monday 10/9/23.
2021 Holiday Hours for Member Libraries
For the upcoming winter holiday, please note that no public libraries in Milwaukee County will be open on Friday 12/24/2021, Saturday 12/25/2021, Friday 12/31/2021 and Saturday 1/1/2022.
On Thursday, 12/23/2021: the Cudahy Family Library, North Shore Library and Oak Creek Public Library will be closed. All other locations are open for regular hours.

Milwaukee Public Libraries New Hours
All twelve Milwaukee Public Library branches will be extending hours starting Monday, August 2, 2021. Central and Drive Up’s hours will remain the same.
MPL Branch Hours:
Monday-Tuesday: 12pm-7pm
Wednesday-Thursday: 11am-6pm
Friday-Saturday: 10am-5pm
Drive Up @ Central Library:
Monday-Friday: 9am-6pm
Saturday: 8am-5pm
Sunday: Closed
Central Library (limited services):
Monday-Friday: 10am-6pm

Library System Upgrade 5/26/2021
The Milwaukee County Federated Library System is performing a software upgrade, Wednesday May 26, 2021 after the last member library closes. The upgrade will start at 9:00 pm and is expected to be completed by 11:30 pm. The upgrade is a part of the system’s regular and scheduled software maintenance.
The CountyCat catalog and electronic resources requiring your CountyCat login will not be available during this time. Additionally, you will not be able to pay fines online through CountyCat.

Announcing the Winners of the MCTBA
Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Dr. Ibram X. Kendi is the big winner of the Milwaukee County Teen Book Awards!
The honor books are Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo, I’ll be the One by Lyla Lee, and The Assignment by Liza M. Wiemer, which also won the teen vote.
The Milwaukee County Teen Book Awards are annual awards for excellence in Young Adult literature. This year’s committee chair was Katharina Himsel from MPL’s Central Library. The other committee members included Mary Evers of North Shore & St. Francis, Laura Gravander of Franklin, Alicia Groeschel of Capitol Branch, Jennifer Hron of Tippecanoe Branch, Tara Jordan of Greendale, Catherine Mullen, Lisa Quintero of Shorewood, and Sarah Stoecker of Franklin.
Library Closings for Easter
All MCFLS libraries will close on Sunday, April 4th for the spring holiday. Opening hours on Friday and Saturday may refer to either in person or curbside service.

Help Improve Internet Access In Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is collaborating with Measurement Lab (M-Lab) to collect data on Internet connection speeds across Wisconsin.
In order to get an accurate picture of the state, they need a lot of data. That’s where you come in! Help identify areas in Wisconsin where Internet access is slow by taking a very quick speed test.
