CountyCat Mobile App

CountyCat Mobile app The CountyCat mobile app lets you take all your library account info where ever you go. Browse the catalog, place holds, pay fines, renew checkouts, and more. Patrons new to the app, can use the App store icons at the right to download it!

A NEW RELEASE IS AVAILABLE AS OF JUNE 2025

Here are some changes available with version 2025.24 (iOS) or 2025.20 (Android) of the app.

OPT INTO LIBRARY NOTIFICATIONS

Patrons can now opt into library notifications. To do this, go into My Account > choose View or Change Preferences. On the next page, use the toggle to turn “ON” Library News. Turning this on ensures you can see infrequent messages from the library. This does not yet include alerts tied to your library materials, such as due date reminders or hold pickup notifications. However, by activating this feature now, you will be ready for when those circulation notices do become available. Those are slated to be included in the app in 2026. View what this option looks like When the pop-up message displays asking if you would like to allow the library to send you notifications, please choose “Allow.” View what that pop-up message looks like View where a new notification will display in the app

DARK OR LIGHT DISPLAY OPTION

You can choose from three theme options: auto, light or dark mode.  To manage this feature, go into My Account > choose View or Change Preferences. Near the top of the display, you’ll see the theme options. View what the theme option display looks like

NEW DISPLAY OPTION FOR THE HOME SCREEN

If you use a large font on your smart device, or you use a screen reader, the app now allows you to set whether images or icons display on the home screen. To see this feature, go into My Account > choose View or Change Preferences. Near the middle of the next page, you’ll see options under the Simplified Home View header.
    • If you choose Always Simplified, it will remove images and feature only display. View what the Always Simplified display looks like
    • If you choose Always Full, the home screen will always feature the book carousel of featured titles as well as the menu icons.  This “Always Full” option is retained even if you have set your phone or smart device to use a larger font size! View what the Always Full display looks like

THE MY ACCOUNT AREA HAS BEEN REFRESHED

The My Account area of the app has been redesigned with clearer groupings as well as new icons.

READING HISTORY SHOWS A LAST UPDATED DATE

The Reading History (under Checkouts) now lists the last time the checkout history was refreshed or updated. NOTE: You need to enable the reading history feature using the CountyCat desktop catalog before seeing it within the app. View what this looks like

OTHER APP FEATURES

  •  The app features a two-step login process.  This is an additional security measure to prevent bad actors from automating a brute force attack against the service. It is also implemented to improve the app’s performance.
  • Buttons display near the top when you are logged in.  The buttons alert you when materials are overdue, coming due and/or ready for pickup. See the image to the right here.
  • The barcode displays near the top of the first screen. Remember, you may use this barcode for checkout at any public service desk or self check machine!
  • See Book jacket images.
  • Use the My Lists feature where you use a bookmark icon to save titles to your own custom lists. Lists are stored under My Account. Here is a handout on how to add titles to a list.
  • On the search results display, the filters are at the top of the screen.
  • Holds for an account show the READY FOR PICKUP items first, then items IN TRANSIT to the pickup location and finally ON HOLD items at the bottom.
  • There is an AVAILABLE ONLY button in the full record display that shows only copies not checked out, in transit or in process.
Patrons may SORT results and set LIMITS the same way you do in the CountyCat desktop catalog:
  • by format  (when doing so, you’ll need to click on the format you want, then go into the full record to see copies)
  • by location
  • searching on the title, by start of title, by series, by subject
  • searching by age level (adult, children/youth, young adult, all ages, specialized and Libby only)
These options match how you can sort and limit in the CountyCat desktop catalog  For more help, go to the CountyCat FAQ pages.
