Library system upgrade after hours October 1, 2024

Scheduled Network MigrationThe Milwaukee County Federated Library System will be upgrading its library automation software in the evening of Tuesday October 1, 2024 after the last library closes.  The upgrade impacts all public libraries in Milwaukee County and is expected to take 4-6 hours to complete. Starting at 9:30 PM CST, CountyCat and all resources or services with a connection to our library system (e.g., Hoopla, OverDrive/Libby, Kanopy, etc.) will be unavailable for the duration of the scheduled maintenance.  If you have downloaded titles from any online service in advance, you will be able to use them that day.  Patrons just won’t be able to checkout, stream or download NEW items during the outage. E-resources with access set up via a library barcode, such as the BadgerLink databases, Creativebug (Wauwatosa, West Allis), Gale Virtual Reference Books (West Allis) are available at this time.  Go to the Databases by Library page to access individual resources. CountyCat facets bug (24.08.00 release) – fixed

Kanopy content updated monthly for local CountyCat

The MCFLS Office updates Kanopy content monthly (around the 15th) on behalf of those libraries who subscribe to the resource. Patrons will see these titles in their local CountyCat catalogs by narrowing results using the eContent filter.  The titles have the eVideo format! Because it is not a system-wide resource, Kanopy content is not in the shared CountyCat.

New CountyCat Mobile app update coming

Reload the appAn update for the CountyCat Mobile app will be coming to the App and Google Play stores over the next 3-5 business days. This is being done to improve the search functionality of the mobile app to align with our new desktop CountyCat catalog. Please update the app to 2024.25 when that version becomes available. NOTE: The app itself stays the same. This is only an update.  There’s a chance you may be logged out of the app. If so, we apologize for that but ask that you please log back in. You can find out which version of the app you are running by going My Account > View or Change Preferences, then look for VN information at the very bottom of that display. If you are having issues with the app in general, this is also where you can click “Reload”.

Here are the winning ideas from the Sierra MEEP voting process for Sierra 6.4! Add “Back” Option to Record Creation Screen  Allow for Automatic Renewals When a Hold is Frozen  Automate Moving YTDCIRC to LYRCIRC at year-end and don’t update last updated date  Hidden review file management and bulk delete  These ideas can now be found on the Product Board for Sierra 6.4 1 which will be released in Q2 2025. Currently MCFLS gets 1 vote in this process – member libraries can also become IUG members and receive their own vote as well! See this page for more info on how to register.
