Hoopla

The public libraries of Milwaukee County have enjoyed offering Hoopla to all residents over the past few years.  However, due to the rising costs associated with the service and its high usage, some libraries are no longer able to offer Hoopla.

• • Subscribing Libraries: As of Jan 2026, these public libraries continue to offer Hoopla: Milwaukee, Shorewood, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Whitefish Bay.
  • Cardholders of these subscribing libraries will have access to two checkouts per month.

The larger issue facing all libraries is that book publishers have been increasingly raising prices for digital resources, while simultaneously limiting access or number of uses before charging another licensing fee. Our commitment remains to offer sustainable and high-quality resources to our community. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to work towards finding the most viable solutions while ensuring fiscal responsibility on behalf of our communities.
